After I wrote “Let It Go,” I sat with God and asked—okay, Lord, if I’m not supposed to carry all these things… what am I supposed to carry? Maybe you've asked that too. It’s one thing to lay something down—but the space it leaves behind can feel uncomfortable, even confusing. We get so used to carrying the weight of control, fear, expectations, or even people that we forget God never asked us to hold any of that.
What He did ask us to carry looks and feels different. It’s lighter, more intentional, and filled with purpose. He asks us to carry faith—not answers. That one was hard for me. I like knowing what’s next, what’s safe, what’s guaranteed. But God keeps whispering, “Just trust Me.” He also asks us to carry peace—not pressure. The kind of peace that doesn't always make sense, but somehow steadies your spirit even in chaos.
He calls us to carry love—real love. Not fixing people, not rescuing them, not controlling the outcome. Just showing up with grace and truth, even when it’s messy. He also hands us truth—not to wield as a weapon, but to anchor us. And finally, He asks us to carry our assignment—not the outcome. That’s the biggest shift for me. I’m learning that obedience is my part, and results are His.
So if you’ve recently laid something down, don’t panic when your hands feel empty. That space was never meant to stay empty—it was meant to be filled with what’s holy, what’s purposeful, and what’s actually yours. I’m still learning what to hold and what to let go of, but this I know: when I carry only what He’s given me, I walk lighter, stronger, and with so much more peace.
Let’s keep walking this out together. Light hands, full hearts.
